Lac de Lumiere is a private lake situated in the heart of the Loire Valley near Sancerre, the famous wine growing region, and runs parallel to the Lateral Canal of the Loire. A 3 acre lake newly established in 2009, in idyllic surroundings in an area of Chateaux, Countryside and Vineyards.

The lake used to be an old limestone quarry and is stocked with Mirror, Grass and Common Carp, with predators such as Pike, Bass and Zander. Catfish, Tench, Bream and Roach can also be found. The lake record is a 56lb mirror which was caught 2 years ago. The lake has several bays and depths on average are between 4 and 5 metres. Mature overhanging trees surround the lake and it is able to accomodate 4/5 anglers

**New to Lac de Lumiere a 2 bedroom log cabin for all your holiday comforts so book early for a great fishing holiday**

This area in particular is full of wildlife, and you will often see kingfishers, deer, red squirrels, buzzards, eagles, owls, bats, badgers, ducks and various butterflies.

The lake is fed by an underwater spring and remains beautifully clear all year round. The swims are large enough to have your bivvy and rods in and give you a good area to fish. The canal runs literally passed the property and this too can be fished 24 hours a day with a Carte de Peche, which we can obtain on your behalf.

Amenities are all within 10 minutes drive and other attractions, including golf, horse riding, wine tasting, museums, canoeing, canal boats, walking and cycling are all around the area. The nearest main town is La Charite sur Loire offering great restaurants, patisseries, supermarkets and shopping. Whilst there, take in the culture of this Unesco World Heritage site and visit L'eglise Notre Dame and each Saturday why not go along to the local market situated at le Place de l'hotel de Ville.
There are several chateaux in the area at Tracy sur Loure (Chateau de Tracy), Pouilly sur Loire (Chateau de Nozet, which produces the famous Pouilly Fume wine) and Sancerre (Chateau de Sancerre). Sancerre is a great town to visit situated on a hillside with stunning views across the Loire valley and offers the French cafe culture and wine tasting. Also why not try canooing on the Loire or renting a canalboat.
